We promote and preserve the knowledge and skills of the historic hand trades and homesteading practices of our past.

The Colonial Homestead Artisans Guild is committed to preserving our heritage and the artisanal practices from our past. Many of the handcrafts from our past are the crafts still utilized by many of today’s talented artists found throughout Ohio. Yet, many crafts such as gun building, blacksmithing, leather making, timber framing, horning, wood carving, and others are at risk of being forgotten.

The Artisans Guild was formed to preserve these crafts by teaching and mentoring students in these age-old techniques and skills while also incorporating more contemporary practices.

Join us at Ohio’s artisanal learning guild that promotes, preserves and cultivates the pioneering spirit of our heritage.

The Colonial Homestead Artisans Guild is located in Millersburg, Ohio, within northern Appalachia and home of the world’s highest Amish concentration.

We partner with leading masters in their chosen fields to deliver unique and one-of-a-kind learning experiences that advocate the skills of artisanal craftsmanship.
Several tenets guide all of our heritage-based learning experiences:
  1. Promote and preserve the knowledge, skills, crafts, pioneering spirit, and traditions of the past
  2. Provide creative and meaningful skill, technique and process learning opportunities
  3. Deliver a relevant, affirmative and transformative environment that inspires lifelong intergenerational learning
  4. Support guests in identifying and developing their creativity, skills and talents
